Stainless Steel Wire Cloth

Stainless Steel Wire Cloth is also named Stainless Steel Wire Mesh, Stainless Steel Screen Mesh, or Stainless Steel Woven Wire Cloth.  The materials are available in AISI 304, AISI 304L, AISI 316 and AISI 316L.  Other material like Nickel or silver can be custom made.  The stainless steel wire is a bright, clean material with corrosion-resistant properties.  The Stainless Steel Wire Mesh can be divided into Fine mesh, Medium mesh and Coarse mesh by mesh size and wire diameter.

Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Types according to Hole Size and Wire diameter

Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Coarse Mesh

-Wire diameter from 0.025inch to 0.047inch
-4 mesh to 10 mesh

Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Medium Mesh

-Wire diameter from 0.0035inch to 0.023inch
-12 mesh to 88 mesh

Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Fine Mesh

-Wire diameter from 0.001inch to 0.0035inch
-Some of these are available in non-fraying Sintered versions
-90mesh to 635mesh

Stainless Steel Wire Cloth Types according to Material

-AISI302 Stainless Steel Wire

-AISI304 Stainless Steel Wire

-AISI304L Stainless Steel Wire

-AISI316 Stainless Steel Wire

-AISI316L Stainless Steel Wire

The most used two types of material for stainless steel wire cloth are AISI304 and AISI316:

AISI 304 Stainless Steel Wire Mesh

-Stainless steel mesh is the most popular woven screen in the industrial world.
-Also called 18-8 due to 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
-Stainless mesh screen and wire cloth are used where clean long lasting vents, filters, or grilles are needed.
-These meshes are used for sorting and screening of abrasives, liquids, powders and other solids.
-AISI 304 is less expensive, stronger, but not as corrosion resistant as AISI 316.
-AISI 304 is the basic stainless alloy, and unless another alloy specified it is assumed that this type is acceptable.

AISI 316 Stainless Steel Wire Mesh

-Special corrosion resistant Stainless Steel
-High resistance to corrosion by salts, acids, and seawater
-Also called 18-10 Stainless Steel due to 18% chromium and 10% nickel
-For marine and industrial environments
-Use with medical, pharmaceutical, laboratory, semiconductor, food processing, marine, waste water, and water purification equipment
